The 8-day trek begins with an early morning departure from Cusco, heading to Cachora where breakfast is provided, followed by the start of the hike through Capuliyoc towards Chiquiska. Over the next few days, participants will explore stunning landscapes, including the descent to Rosalina Beach, the climb to Marampata, and a visit to the Choquequirao archaeological site. The journey also includes challenging treks through mountain passes, visits to remote villages like Yanama, and breathtaking views of snow-capped peaks. Each day, hikers experience a combination of uphill and downhill trekking, with stops at scenic locations like San Juan Pass and Totora.

Itinerary

Day 1: Cusco - Cachora - Chiquiska

We will start our trip in the early hours of the morning wishing the city of Cusco at 4:00 am. Where we will arrive to a small village Cachora (2850m / 9350f), where we will have the first breakfast of the trek, where the Guide will make a small presentation with the porters to carry your luggage throughout the hike, after breakfast we will continue to Capuliyoc. here is where our hike begins descending down until we arrive to Chiquiska.

Day 2: Chiquiska - Rosalina Beach - Marampata - Choquequirao

Early in the morning at 5:00 am we will have breakfast in the cabins to continue with our trip, we will descend the hike downhill until we reach the Apurimac River or Rosalina Beach (1550m / 4921f) for about an hour, then continue the hike uphill for about 4 to 5 hours to a small village called Marampata (2850m / 9350f). From here we will have a nice view of the archaeological complex of Choquequirao (3033m / 9951f). We will have lunch in Marampata and continue our 1 hour walk to the archaeological park of Choquequirao which means “Cradle of Gold” we will enjoy the tranquility of this impressive place and explore this archaeological site in detail visiting the palaces, the temple of the priest, the section of the llamas. then we will return to Marampata.

Day 3: Maranpata - Choquequirao and Maizal

After a good breakfast we will go again to the archaeological complex of Choquequirao (3033m / 9950) this time we will only pass through because next, we will walk uphill to the Choquequirao pass (3270m / 10728f) and then descend to a small archaeological site of Pinchaunuyoc (2450m / 8038f). and then descend to Rio Blanco (1900m / 6234f) for 2 hours approx. here we will have our box lunch. Then we will ascend uphill the last part of the hike for about 4 hours until we arrive to Maizal where we will spend the night.

Day 4: Maizal - San Juan Pass - Yanama

In the morning in a magical sunrise surrounded by mountain scenery you will have a good breakfast and begin the day's activities. We will start our hike uphill for approximately 4 hours through a rocky trail and bamboo forest where in some sections we will have excellent views of the mountains, lush green valleys and also some mountain peaks. Upon reaching the San Juan pass (4,200 m), you will enjoy lunch with views of the mountains. The views will include snow-capped peaks, valleys and maybe some condors flying, then you will begin a 2 hour hike, descending to a peasant place called Yanama which will be our fourth night.

Day 5: Yanama - Abra Yanama - Totora- Chaullay

In the morning after a hearty breakfast, we will head to the highest pass of the famous Vilcabamba mountain range, the last city of the Incas - approximately 5 hours of uphill trekking - to the Abra de Yanama (4670m). During the day we will frequently enjoy the view of snow-capped mountains like Salkantay (6264m) and Humantay (5450m). seeing some Andean birds, like hawks, eagles, sparrow hawks and condors, then we will walk downhill until we reach the community of Totora, then we will walk to Chaullay which is our night in comfortable rooms and enjoy hot drinks, snacks and dinner.

Day 6: Chaullay - Lucmabamba.

After a good breakfast our sixth day of gradual trekking approximately 6 hours until Lucmabamba, in this way you can observe the impressive flora and fauna, waterfalls, cascades, varied streams along the Salkantay river by a path through the middle of the wild forest that in points of rest you will be able to enjoy fruits of the granadilla (Family of the passion fruit) then we will arrive until Lucmabamba our next refuge, In this place you are exposed to plantations of coffee, banana, avocado and other plants, with the local family of the lodge you will experience the process of coffee with a final tasting (coffee tour), after tasting a rich coffee you have time to visit the impressive thermal baths of Cocalmayo in a 45 minutes transport and then return in the same transport to your refuge in Lucmabamba.

Day 7: Lucmabamba - Llactapata - Hydroelectric - Aguas Calientes

After a delicious breakfast early in the morning, you will start hiking for 2 hours and 30 minutes, exploring the rainforest along the Santa Teresa Valley with breathtaking views of the valley through coffee plants, banana, avocado and other type of products, then you will get the opportunity to walk along the trail until you reach Llactapata which is located at 2,736 meters above sea level 8,974 Ft. Which is right in front of Machupicchu, this is the first place you can see the lost city of Machupicchu where you can see some buildings of Machupichu and Huaynapicchu, an impressive viewpoint to take pictures, after a rest you will continue the hike downhill for 2 hours until the hydroelectric train station which is located at 1,771 meters high 5,809 ft. Where we will have lunch After lunch we continue the hike on a nice walking trail that takes approximately 2 hours to reach Aguas Calientes or Machupicchu town which is at 1900 meters altitude 6,232 feet. The Via Hydroelectric - Machupicchu is a very important trail that was used by the American professor Hiram Bingham who was in search of the lost city of Vilcabamba, fortunately he met a farmer named Melchor Arteaga who guided him to Machupicchu. After this hike we arrive to Aguas Calientes Machupicchu town to your lodging and then continue with dinner and prepare for the next day.

Day 8: Aguas Caliente Visit to Machupicchu - Return to Cusco.

This is the most important day of your expedition to enjoy and learn the most of your trip, from very early in the day before dawn we will take the first buses to Machupicchu according to the schedule of your entrance, in the bus it takes approximately 40 minutes to reach the point of entry, Your guide will give you the tour of the city for about 2 hours with the teaching of the histories and cultures of the Incas and with the times of taking pictures, at the end of your expedition you will go back to the starting point of the buses to go down to the town of Aguas Calientes for lunch and board the train that takes approximately 2 hours to Ollantaytambo and then in a bus to the city of Cusco.
